TIME TO FACE IT
by Shanicka Tairu
Okay everyone, let's get straight to it!! It's so unhealthy for us to live a life constantly pushing the issues of life that we find uncomfortable or difficult to deal with under our invisible rugs. Walking around like everything is amazing and peachy keen when it's clearly not is not good for spiritual growth.
This might seem a little aggressive, but it's only because I am so guilty of it as well. This used to be me, and still it is at times. I would act like I'm okay, but if someone asked me, "Are you okay?", I'd start to get teary eyed, get easily off-ended, keep to myself and so many more erratic behaviors. For me, living this way was truly bondage. I never felt like everyone I knew experienced the true "me".
I know you're probably wondering, "Isn't this the Health and Wellness Ministry? Why are they talking about pushing stuff under the rug?" We are a ministry that truly focuses on the whole man/woman. God's word says this in 1 Timothy 4:8 (KJV); "For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come."
God cares about our physical state but our relationship with Him is what's priority. Not addressing the circumstances that we want to act like don't exist only makes the situation worse. If we allow God to lead us in every area of life, handling things with godliness, I'm confident that those situations won't be as heavy as they have been in our lives. We must trust that God is the best doctor, mechanic, therapist, counselor, friend, and surgeon that there is.
Sometimes before I do things I have to visualize what I'm going to do and how I'm going to do it. So, visualize yourself going to that rug, lifting it, and pulling out what makes us afraid and uncomfortable. Let's trust God, give it to Him and allow Him to teach us how to deal with it. I pray nothing but freedom, love, boldness, forgiveness, and peace upon you as you face the unseen rug in your life. Now, time for me to get to lifting and facing my own set issues head on. God bless!
